Who needs to be involved in a strategic planning process?
Vision and strategy fall in the direct purview of the CEO. She is required. We highly recommend including the CEO. Strategic plans should have a direct sight line to financial results. CFO participation ensures this. The full senior leadership team is generally asked to participate. This includes anyone who reports directly to the CEO. Subject matter experts can be brought in as required. Others can be engaged in the process through focus groups or surveys as required.
How long does the process take?
The process is flexible and the time it takes is dependent on the company needs. We encourage an iterative process over several months that culminate in a 2 ½ day retreat. The written plan follows within one month of the session.
Will we be asked to conduct external research?
With most mid-market companies, sufficient information already exists to prepare a strategic plan. Our mantra of “strategy from within” is critical here. We believe the best ideas reside in the minds of your team. These people live and breathe the business. Occasionally, the group will decide that additional information is required – particularly as relating to the environmental scan. These decisions are made on a case-by-case basis.
What support is available for implementation?
The executive team is responsible for implementing the plan. We often work with individuals and teams to ensure the plan stays on track.
Do you work outside of Vancouver?
We are available to work anywhere in Canada.
What is the typical company that you work with?
Companies we work with have anywhere from 50 to 5,000 employees. All of them have structured leadership with an active executive team. We see best results when the organization’s CEO is adaptable and open to new ways of thinking.
What will the process cost?
Every engagement is different and varies in complexity. The process is a significant investment that starts at $15,000 for straightforward, short term engagements, to tens of thousands of dollars.
What do your customers say about you?
We have included several testimonials throughout our website. We are committed to ensuring a deep level of satisfaction with our clients. We encourage our prospective customers to engage with our current and past customers to hear directly from them. This is an intense process and it will serve you well to do some digging to understand what you are signing up for.
