Ignite was approached by an industry association facing significant challenges. The sector was grappling with a deteriorating reputation in safety and productivity, while the Association itself struggled with low engagement and buy-in from key stakeholders. Additionally, misalignment between the Board and Management was creating barriers to meaningful progress.

The Approach
Ignite recognized that true transformation required an inclusive and disciplined approach. To achieve this, we facilitated a comprehensive, industry-wide strategic planning process that engaged both internal leaders and external stakeholders. By fostering open dialogue and collaboration, the goal was to create a shared vision that could unite the industry around common priorities—an essential step in rebuilding trust, aligning efforts, and generating broad-based buy-in.
Implementation
Following this foundational work, we fostered a practice of disciplined implementation through structured program management and leadership development initiatives. For the first time in its history, the industry coalesced around a unified vision prioritizing safety and productivity. This alignment enabled the successful rollout of several critical initiatives, including:
- Adoption of a Drug and Alcohol policy
- Implementation of Criminal Background Checks
- Launch of Leadership Training to elevate supervision standards and drive safer, more productive operations
- Establishment of a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council with senior leadership representation from all major operators
These outcomes not only addressed long-standing industry concerns but also helped rebuild stakeholder confidence, improve operational standards, and lay the groundwork for continued collaboration and accountability.
